OK, I see now thanks. Apologies. I missed a couple of posts where, by responding to a notification, I went straight to where Martin quoted me. This meant I didn't see the image where the back plate was clearer. The first image I saw, I could only see the edge of that board and it looked like wiring. All good then!

I have now had the new drivers in for two weeks. In many ways what they do is similar to good large horns. That sense of effortless mids and treble, I still have the tight and nimble bass response I enjoy. In fact, my bass seems to be going a bit lower. I think it is an approach that offers incredible value to sound performance but guess to radical for most people. No going back to the original drivers.

They certainly *look* as if they cannot work, incomplete, work in progress. We are used to the normality of cabinets. Think I would like to have something like thin black cloth or similar to hide them. Only the front, not so worried about side or back. How do you dust them? Carefully I imagine In the past, I used a damp cloth to dust. If you look closely at the top of the range Wilson Loudspeakers you can see it is a scaffold frame. A lot more elegant looking then this approach. I did start off with normal speakers. I could have never imagined having such an approach but in the end, I trust my ears.

I decided to add another two drivers per channel to the speakers. I will get this done at the weekend and update.

I added another 2 Faital 4 inch drivers with neo magnets Its now configured to be 4 ohms. The sound has better low level information and I can drive harder without distortion (ideal if I want to crank up Dream Theate) Also a bit more depth I still have that sense of effortless but it really captures stuff like harmonics so well I guess it's the realism and naturness I am really enjoying The line array have a natural curve a bit like what top of the line Wilson's speakers do but the curve is a bit more subtle Another upgrade for not crazy money

Cool.
When do you get diminishing returns with adding drivers John?

Vic did a lot of experiments with different configurations to get to this layout. It works really well so I am glad he has the time to experiment Adding additional drivers changes the load the amplifier sees This are not to bad as 8 ohm total and 92db sensitive

How many drivers in each tower now, John? I'm interested in how you achieve exactly 4 ohms load.

Fascinating developments here John (thanks for referring me over from the other thread). Would you mind posting the driver model numbers you’re using now?

8 x Faital Pro 3FE22 - 3" 20W 16 Ohm Loudspeaker 4 x Faital Pro 4FE32 - 4" 30W 8 Ohm Loudspeaker I use 4 x Selenium Neo 15" But you be better off with something like the Dayton UM15 or 18 if you want really deep bass I am cutting off about 28 at a guess maybe 30 with the Neos They have gone up in price I guess people are starting to figure how good they can be
