Still hearing more information from my wonderful system
No changes yet the playlist delivers more detail each run through.
Speaking to Tony recently he pointed out a lot of electrical noise has been eliminated due to the Covid shutdown.
Anyone else hearing more from their unchanged systems ?

Yes, I think the big local farms have pulled back consumption of late, although the replacement substation transformer a couple of years ago made the really big change to our SQ.

Would have thought we were so far off the beaten track it would make little or no difference.
Wonder what is between where the supply starts and me. Also is that one or multiple starts ?
Maybe the supply is cleaner because there is less power being used and contaminated in the whole grid

Funny you say that but I was listening to my system yesterday and thinking how much better it was sounding than I could remember. I hadn’t thought about the C-19 impact on power consumption, but it makes sense.

I would guess that industrial consumption is way down while domestic consumption is somewhat increased.

Is electrickery similar to broadband and contention ?
EG if less is used overall do we get more amps, volts, less DC ?

No, it's more about noise and contamination, Mike.

Vaguely remember once reading that voltage was adjusted when demand was high.
The broadband metaphor is about contention - if there is any on electricity

Broadband is contended as far as you're concerned, Mike. There's only so much processing the node you're hooked up to can do, and if demand is extremely high in your locale things will start to become laggy, and you get the magic circles of buffering appearing.
If the grid requires more power, more power is put into the grid to supply the demand. The grid has become quite adept at ensuring that peak demand is met. The grid is probably less stressed by demand now that many workplaces are shut.
If you lived across the road from a large industrial park you'd probably be enjoying a reduction in DC offset (caused by mains borne RFI), along with lower levels of mains borne RFI in general.
I haven't noticed any improvement in sound quality from improved power cleanliness, but the general noise level of day to day life has been welcome. The number of cars driving past has dropped here.

Tony was starting from the point that my mains is horrid as per his measurements.
We are a way out into the country so I am struggling to work out who nearby is a big power user. As most people must be at home all day the use in our road must be well up.
Way less traffic heard from M3 and others. Surprised to see a lone 747 fly over yesterday. First time I had seen one in days. Usually see and hear loads. So many I sometimes wonder how close some are to each other

No, my system sounds the same as it did before all this!

Same here. The studio has its own 3-phase supply, but the system is plugged into the same 'phase' as other computer equipment. However, there is an Isotek Nova in front of the streamer, DAC etc and a Titan in from of the power amplifier and another in front of the Rel sub.

Proof of my pudding will be the system staying the same or carry on improving once the mains is back to normal - whatever normal might be in the future

Vaguely remember once reading that voltage was adjusted when demand was high. It goes both ways Mike, demand being too high / low necessitates compensation on the grid; this is further compounded as people move onto renewables.

Friday before last, my mobile must have got some top-notch, top-quality juice when I had it on charge overnight. Saturday when I had a listen, favourite vids sounded even more enjoyable. Spent the day listening - until I drained the battery again. It's not something unique; it's often noticed.
Iris was really rockin'. (Great album - if you like her.) And Marvin never sounded better. Great live version. Bit of a sad watch, though:

Mmm interesting, early morning listening sessions seem a tad better ( less ambient noise?)- birds singing is very nice.
However had one day last week where the system sounded not as good as usual, then the following day all back to normal.

I have only had well known albums sounding better and better. No going back. Being almost all TAD my system sounds TADtastic Noticed the playlist in the kitchen diner sounds better but that had the speakers changed a month or so ago and the CDs treated so it should sound better. We're a few miles away from the M3 and that sound has dropped substantially. Hear the birds even clearer while walking the dogs. Wonderful sound
