About a year ago I bought a few things from Teddy Pardo including a pre-amplifier with its accompanying PSU for the studio in Germany. For various reasons though it has been sitting unused ever since as I got distracted by a Lab12 Pure passive pre-amplifier amongst other things. Anyway, today I decided to fiddle with a few bits and one of those was to swap the Lab12 for the TP pre-amp. using the Lab12 Suono as the power amplifier. It has only been running for about an hour, but is already beginning to settle in and is proving to be a detailed and dynamic bit of kit and the bass is filling out nicely: what a shame that Teddy has stopped making amplifiers though. It is proving to be a very nice complement to the Suono, more so maybe than the Pure, and is making a fabulous job of "Peepers" by Polar Bear. I'll leave it playing Radio Paradise to itself over night I think (but with the power amp. off) to soak in further. However, it's going to be Greek rather than Israeli food tonight as I'm meeting Ina at a Greek restaurant on her way way from work in half an hour!

I was active in the PFM diy room over a decade ago when Teddy was busy learning his craft and modifying Naim equipment to good effect. All his ideas evolved from that i think so no surprise that the sound is engaging.
I have never heard his products but i did build some of his Teddyreg regulators way back.

I still have a TeddyReg regulator board lying around somewhere, too. Interesting gyrator topology.

It was while looking for a PSU for a Naim NDX that I came across his equipment. I bought one and it was transformative. I added one to a NDX2 as well and also decided to try his DAC to 'bypass' the ones in the NDX and NDX2. It made a huge difference in the presentation etc and they certainly nip at the heals of the Lab12 DAC (and can process 192/24) and I use them as my everyday DACs at the moment. That was what caused me to try out his amplification.

Surely, any change would result in an improvement to Naim gear? [not-a-fan]

Probably. I am not a fan of the Naim 'sound' either, but I do like the convenience of the NDX streamers (for what I use them for). Having said that, I did replace our kitchen stand-alone with a Mu-So-Qb, which does a fine job and a Unity Atom in the living room in the apartment. It does a superb job coupled to Neat Iota Alpha speakers and is almost invisible - the real, and fully obtrusive, system in Germany lives in my studio: the systems in the apartment need to be unobtrusive and suitable for Ina to access when I'm not around. Interestingly, neither the kitchen nor the living room systems have a particularly Naim 'sound' I think.
