The drivers each have two 2 ohm coils that can be connected in parallel for increased power handling or in series to give 4 ohms as I understand it. I believe Vic runs both amps in stereo, each amp running one left/right pair, one pair out of phase in relation to the other pair.

A lot of my system is based on what I learnt from Vic and guess indirectly Clive as they are always pushing each other

Simplicity is also important or at least it was until Vic got a DEQX.

And now I have a streamer with phono stage, tidal et al, usb ssd, preamp, dac and 2nd box with a matching hypex amp. Just 2 boxes and it sounds bloody amazing...

I just visit my friend to hear the latest changes.
Gone was the Slagle presmp. Instead Vic currently has a DEQX set flat. He has gone balanced between the DAC DEQX and monos Treble has improved so has slam. I not heard any system get close to this in terms of scale and impact The closest I have heard to live music

Yep...my feeling is that the Slagles soften the sound but add depth. They match SE valve amps better than class d.

I think you are right Clive I prefer just using the preamp from the Topping D70 I also think in Vic case going active has increased the sense of scale and treble from the PRV

John, the game is a journey which is what makes it fun. I've migrated from euphonic equipment which can be fabulous with a few types of music, even if it's not accurate. Certainly my preference now is more towards neutral sounding electronics giving great clarity & separation as this gets me closer to the recording. It sounds like a few of us have gone this way. Of course some never understood the attraction of euphony but as I say, it's a journey and fun.

I like euphony if it's in addition to resolution, dynamics and slam.

I had a long overdue visit to Vic he has been experimenting with quite a few drivers and finally settled on the Gallo Strada and agree with Vic the best mid/treble drivers A deep soundstage with a natural sound that has plenty of body. A effortless listen and think Vic has finally settled on the right drivers for him. I could easily live with the system I add a picture later

Vic Limetree integrates really well with Spotify and Quobuz I think it is a better than the ASUS Tinkerboard using Volumio as a interface
