BT - These Hopeful Machines (2010) Following a scheduling mix-up, we have decided to provide a management special for this entry with an album that was released 10 years ago. This album was released on 1st February 2010 and is the 6th studio album from American electronic artist, BT. I first became aware of BT through a friend who informed me that his tracks had been used in video games and have been a fan ever since. Wiki:en.wikipedia.org/wiki/These_Hopeful_MachinesSpotify:

Just had a listen to all the Spotify 30sec samples, so I've kind of heard the whole album.
I'll score it -10 and get my coat!

I’m guessing it’ll be on your regular playlist then, Tim?

I’ve given it a 4 out of 5. Not as good as some of his other albums, but still up there.

I actually have a BT cd from way back when which is pretty good electro. This is much more commercial dance music, like Calvin Harris or David Guetta but not as good.
I wouldn't mind it if I was sitting down enjoying a drink in a nice Greek cafe bar, but a wet afternoon in North London isn't doing it for me.

I was intrigued by the description, being an electronic music nerd, so gave this a whirl. I did quite like the mildly glitchy first minute of the first track, but after that:

3 for me. It was OK, but nothing special and nothing that would make me want to investigate them further.

I tried but really couldn't get on with this music. It's like 1980s pop mixed with a touch of Lunatic Soul, but not nearly as creative or dark as him. 1/5.

Sorry no. This person should be subject to a court order denying them access to musical instruments for life. I can't give it a score. Make it go away, please - it's just not something I ever want to hear, or hear about again.

Wow thanks looking forward to this one and the Tool- Fear Inoculum.
BT's old hit "Never Gonna Come Back Down" is wonderful and brings back so many memories of some good old days.

Not for me either I'm afraid. Instantly forgettable for the most part and the more electronic tracks I found utterly dull: I can see where the game connection might come in. Another '1' from me.

Pop music down the MOR
Doesn't offend. Doesn't grab either

I’m guessing it’ll be on your regular playlist then, Tim? Well I won't be rushing out to buy it any time soon - absolutely the polar opposite of what I would consider music or enjoyable.

Not a lot of love for this album. I have listened to it again today and I have to say it is certainly not his best. Emotional Technology is a lot better. I have revised my own rating as a result and gone with 3/5.
