Never heard of it but could be worth a try, especially used. It'll get you into the world of streaming.

Yes you are, Chris. I was really thinking about having a dedicated streamer. You should hear better sound quality if it's a good one.

See kinda thought I was streaming just now.... iPad > Chromecast audio > amp That would be improved by the SEG iPad > Chromecast > SEG > Amp I'm assuming you just have the Chromecast outputting directly to the amp via the 3.5 output? That output is also digital and takes a mini toslink out to toslink in on the SEG and would make a definite improvement. PS: there's a Seg/Dorado just appeared on AoS for sale that's £200 plus postage that you might get cheaper, needs a PSU for the Dorado mind you. Might end up cheaper than the other one you mentioned 😉

The problem with that setup is that you don't get you tube out of it mate. Got a streamer thing to try out which is currently driving me nuts by not connecting to wifi

For just a bit more you could build an ASUS tinkerboard Have internet radio stream music play files, stream music and sound a lot better ...as long as you're prepared to pay for the streaming subscriptions and an upgrade to Volumio on top of the initial outlay.

If you pay just for Spotify HQ, you have a world of albums at your disposal and very good sound quality. You then get YouTube and internet radio free with the basic Volumio.
Doing the sums, it's much cheaper than buying CDs every month.

Volumio is or was less clever on YouTube than PC.
Would love to do what I do in my office. PC connected directly to Amp. Look up YouTube or Amazon for sampling - play
Not so easy here with about 3 metres from laptop to system. Doable but clumsy

Ok up n running. Seems ok.
Not much further forward however as it seems Spotify is the only one that connects over wifi. Tidal and Qobuz are Bluetooth connected. Got DAB and a USB though so next step is to try that DAC through the USB then to amp,see what happens there.
