I searched for this but to my surprise it looks like there are no posts about resurfacing/resurfacers on here!
What are you thoughts on resurfacing machines? What do you do if a CD is scratched?
I get most of my CDs used from second hand stores, thrift stores, or bulk lot auctions online and as a result their condition isn't always the greatest. I try to refurbish them the best I can with every trick in the book; deep cleaning, furniture polish, toothpaste, bananas, etc. but sometimes there are scratches that just can't be played, which leaves me with a shiny coaster.
I've been considering investing in a disc repair machine, but I'm on the fence about if it is worth it. I know that there is some stigma surrounding resurfacing since it is basically just sanding and buffing the disc to remove scratches, which results in the disc becoming thinner, but if it is a disc that won't play properly in the first place then what is the worst thing that could happen?
Ideally I'd like to get something like one of the Elm Eco, Azuradisc, or VenMill machines, but for now those are outside of my budget until I know they are absolutely worth the investment. To get started I was looking at the machines from JFJ, though I'm not sure whether the Easy Pro or Eyecon would be the better choice.
Does anyone here have any experience with any of these or other machines? I'm open to any suggestions or recommendations.
Thanks!
