Seems to be a no brainer for me assuming they work well in practice
What gotchas or anything to look out for ?
Loads cheap on Ebay, often without PSUs which can be had for under a tenner if bought carefully. 90W PSU AC adaptor and UK mains lead seems about the level

They are a mixed bag. The Surface Dock for my Surface is superb as are most of the Lenovo docks. Others are not so good. Any good one should come with an adapter to power the machine when docked.

Yes, Lenovo branded are best for your Lenovo laptop. Get one that suits your model as they have different power arrangements.

Can't say as you haven't given us your laptop's model number.

According to the specs, neither laptop has USB3.0.
Try to find what dock was recommended at the time the T410/440 was selling and then look for it on eBay.

I'm sure I'm going to regret asking, but isn't there a sticker on the bottom of the machine with the serial number/model number on, Mike?

On my Lenovo (T540p) the model number is on the screen surround, bottom right corner.
I believe mine has 1 x USB3.

Seemed a good idea I will try agin to find a recommended dock for the older laptops Any good places to look that don't come up high on Google ?

How would you use that in the search for a dock ? I can find docks that are said to suit my laptop but no PSU. Maybe I have to buy a PSU. Prefer to have a working dock with PSU

Sorry for the thread drift, but can anyone recommend a station in northern England where I can get a laptop? Dorking is a bit far for me.

Any good places to look that don't come up high on Google ? Manufacturer's archival pages are often handy. Or else look for a dock for your specific model and sift through the cack to find vendors specifying them as working together.

Told you I'd regret asking.

They do All the items I looked at before either didn't mention model or had it buried
