Gerry Rafferty - On a Wing & A Prayer (1992)Gerry Rafferty -On a wing and a prayer 1992 7th album by Gerry Rafferty and his best from what I have heard. Previously in the Humblebums with Billy Connolly and the commercially successful Stealers Wheel Baker Street has to be one of the tracks of all time ever. This album is in that league Spotify:
Wiki:en.wikipedia.org/wiki/On_a_Wing_and_a_PrayerTalking music to a business friend he said he had been around the studios when it was being made and rated it highly. Sounded reasonable enough to me on sampling so I ordered the CD. First play I could hear good things and have played it very many tines since. Play it once and you will like it. The more you play the better it becomes It is a gem. Broad appeal to those who like poppy style as well as those who like music played and recorded well. Very much about his divorce from his wife of 20 years. He was not a happy man at the time but the music transcends that Wikipedia: Gerry Rafferty asked his friend Joe Egan to collaborate on some of the album's songs, some of which were new renditions of Stealers Wheel-era songs Play it a few time at reasonable volume

Not my usual style of music at all. Has become one of my favourites of all time though

It's very upbeat/easy listening for me but I'll give it another listen later before scoring it.

The songs are mediocre but I like his voice which carried it along and made me listen to the end . I might check out his other albums . 3/5

None of the songs are up to the standard of Baker Street, in my opinion. Too pop for me, overall. 2/5.

In the words of the Hitchhiker's Guide, "mostly harmless," and Were I marking it out of 100 I'd probably give it 42. It sounds like Gerry-Rafferty-by-numbers to me I'm afraid. John had it spot on when he said it sounded dated too. 3/5 from me.

I started at mostly harmless. Having it in the then CD playlist at work it improved. Coming hone it has been stuck in the kitchen playlist now for months

I was actually surprised to find that I rather enjoyed this. Some really strong songs on there and I'm not in the least bothered if it sounds dated, the production is excellent.
I thought it was pretty good, but may / may not play again ...

3/5 for me, it’s quite nice, but not enough for me to want to play it again in a hurry.
I also agree with others that it’s not in the same league as Baker Street.
