What with the new DAC  The new AV amp...  And trying to corner the market in AudioQuest leads. There was also the Forest USB lead, and one of Stan's optical interconnects that weren't boxed, and the AudioQuest speaker cable that arrives on Thursday, and the AudioQuest SureGrip 100 BFA Plugs I've bought to replace the existing plugs.  |

There's nothing like a big upgrade every so often to scratch that itch. And the good news is it appears to be improving and still has a fair way to go I reckon. The new/used speaker cable should at least be run in already, but of course it will alter the sound again. I've never used hyperlitz cable before either, so that's an adventure all on its own.  |

So what's the noo DAC? I can't quite see from the photo. I recall the late/great R Dunn regaling me for using hyperlitz speaker cables with his NVA amps - "they'll blow them up" he said. They did seem to be getting a tad warm. So, Paul is our new Boxswapper Supreme. Yay, go for it.  |

Pursuant to Richard’s warnings about hyperlitz I did actually contact Primare just to “make sure” and they told me that they actually use hyperlitz to test their kit. I know it’s a peculiarity of the NVA amp circuit design that causes it, but better to be safe than sorry, Please don’t worry, Jerry, your title as Box-Swapper Supreme is well and truly safe and I have no intention of challenging it. 😀 The DAC is a dual AK4497 from AliExpress. There’s a thread with a link in somewhere. |
