I ordered some discs on 16/9/19 and they arrived this morning Swift service or what ? TBH I wasn't really happy with trying to fix them to my cables with the Blu Tac and contacted Bob earlier to ask if I could drill a couple of small holes in each to thread a cable tie through and he got back to me just now to tell me that it was OK to drill some holes in each disc . So far I've been really impressed with my dealings with this company and initial impressions of fitting the discs to a mains cable , a digital cable , and a set of interconnects have been favourable so far . As you say Martin , this is good fun , with audible improvements , for a very reasonable price

Yes, their service is sharp, isn't it?
I am incredibly impressed with what these things do. I have compared them with Black Ravioli in the past as both companies do something magical with their products. I don't know how they work, I just know that they do. Enjoy your Nano Discus!

Thanks Martin Yes they're innocuous little things aren't they and it's not obvious how they do what they do . I will give these a bit of time in my system to see exactly what they're doing and post my thought later .

And here they are, on the two toroids. It took a lot longer to get the top off the chassis than to 'install' them. First impressions: where did that height come from? Playing Tasmin Archer's Ripped Inside, the soundstage is effortless, the acoustic guitar wonderfully vivid and there's more height in the tambourine than I'm used to. I've run a full Cleanwave and am leaving the amp to warm up thoroughly. More later.

Further impressions: more palpability, more naturalness. Incredibly transparent and hear-through midrange. Voices are simply fabulous.

The new Nano version of Blackdiscus is a big leap forward. The treble is much more natural. For the original one, if you put too many in one place or to a less balanced system, the treble could be too much. Now no matter how many you place the Nano it still sounds good

I have finally added the two freebie Magic Tubes to my interconnects, DAC to preamp cable at the preamp end.
This was at the end of my session to give them time to do their work. I shall listen tomorrow.

Magic tube on Colin's EWA LS-50. I don't hear any difference but no harm leave them there

They are very subtle but I think I do hear the difference they make. I have mine laid horizontally along the cables, which could make a difference?
Listening today to some Leonard Cohen, the quality of his voice was magnificent, every inflexion apparent on Ten New Songs.

Well , initially I added all eight discs to various cables around my system and although I did hear improvements in soundstage and voices I thought dynamics were adversely affected . I removed them all again and added one at a time , firstly to the USB cable from my music server to my DAC , then to the interconnects from my DAC to my amp . I left it at that for a day or so and can report improvements all areas . Soundstage is much bigger , voices are more natural and it some cases beautifully presented , and the top end in particular is very nice indeed . I will listen over the next few days and maybe move the discs around before adding any more . The effect of these little discs on my system is quite strange to say the least considering the fact that they look similar to little draught pieces . Good fun though considering what they cost , and a worthwhile exercise IMHO

One effect I noticed, Brian, is that the noise floor went down and so did the average volume level. Compensating for that (+2dB in my case) revealed dynamics to be greater than before.

I'll try that later Martin , although I'm a bit limited in that area . i do have a rear extension which I use as a listening room , however , if I play the system too loud I get a request from the boss to turn it down . I also have a retired couple through the wall so have to be careful not to crank it up too much .

Flippen eck...I've been sitting here the last 20 minutes or so thinking how good my system was sounding , then I remembered that the only change I've made recently was adding the Mad Scientist discs to my cables . The improvements these discs make kinda creep up on you I originally had the discs fitted to the source end of the interconnect cables , however , they seem to work best at the amp end of the cables in my system

The best is the discs wont make your system sound 'hifi', instead it make the music so real and natrual.

Am I correct in thinking that a single disc is $20?
