Is anybody familiar with Plixir power? I’ve just come across them and this balanced power supply got my attention 6moons.com/audioreviews2/plixir/1.htmlThey are expensive compared to many other options of balanced power, but cheaper than some. The thing that interests me is they use Noratel’s highest grade transformer. It makes me wonder is it worth the extra cost over say an Airlink Transformer? Any thoughts appreciated

I've learned that transformer grade makes a difference to sound quality. On that basis, it should be good. Whether it's better than, say, an NVA BMU is difficult to say.

Yes, I thought the same about transformer quality. It’s really hard to know what’s used in a lot of balanced transformers available and the prices vary drastically.

One thing you could do is ask a few questions of the manufacturer l, give them a chance to explain why they cost what they do. Ultimately, if you set yourself a budget (something is only worth what you’re willing to pay after all) and give one / a few a test.
In this hobby, you can drive yourself mad wondering ‘what if?’ as well, do what you can (research, test), make your choice and try to move on!

I did ask James of Plixir about the output impedance of the BAC400 and its compatibility with the load presented by the equipment I intend to connect to it. He replied saying the load would be fine but didn’t mention the output impedance.
