Errki-Sven Tüür - a contemporary Estonian composer, born in 1959 and yet to leave this mortal coil. From 1979 to 1984 he headed the rock group In Spe, which quickly became one of the most popular in Estonia. Tüür left In Spe to concentrate on composition. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erkki-Sven_T%C3%BC%C3%BCrI like Tuur's soundworld, maybe you will, too.

I've given it a seven because I thought parts of it were interesting. Not something I'd buy, or listen to out of choice, but if it were playing I wouldn't actually run out of the room screaming.
The really quiet intro fooled me.

If the Strata album is a bit too left field, then I suggest you (also) try the album that first introduced me to Tuur and won me over. This is far more Arvo Part-esque and is likely to be more palatable. I find much of the music here to be beautifully atmospheric, as well as a bit weird.

No-one interested? Hi ho. I would imagine John would enjoy the 2nd album I suggested, Crystallisatio. .... I'm itching to get onto #5 - listening to it at the moment. Obscure but glorious!

The first piece is a crazy mixture of 50s Sci fiction and western music mixed with classical second piece is more interesting I let you know my thoughts on the 6th Symphony later

Listening now It is interesting for sure at times almost like a film score I could do with a bit more melodic structure but it's not too outside either So far it's a 6 for me I feel I am not the best person to judge classical music as the rest of you are so much more passionate about the music
