Having listened to Tom’s Takemitsu, I thought it would be interesting to introduce Scriabin’s ‘Mystic Chord' to those who haven’t had the pleasure.
Technically, it’s pretty difficult to get your head round, but that aside, the sonic effect is incredibly beguiling. There is nothing that compares.
Have a look at these two short, but fun explanations.
Now have a listen to the mystic chord in action and allow your mind to wander to matters higher. It is littered throughout Scriabin’s work but most famously employed in Prometheus.

Thanks Jules The first two reveal my music knowledge to be lacking. I have a blind spot in music I would like to sort. Well below the level Scriabin was at, starting at the fundamental chord and harmonics. Have even thought about going on a music course at local ed.
Not that keen on Promethee

Music course sounds like a great idea Mike.
Scriabin is one of my favourite composers but you really need some kind of understanding of his theosophical beliefs, as it's central to an appreciation of what he was trying to express in his music.
