Ok - did a bit wheeling dealing and have ended up with these. Omar 860s. These were a British made product from the 80s built by a one man band(+helper) Omar Skinner. He had a few models and these, the 860,were second from top. The 880 had two bass drivers, the 860 only has one. These are 1 owner examples in a rather good condition with a rosewood finish so they look excellent. Couple of tiny nicks here n there but nothing major. Theyre big. Hooked up to the AR07 they sound excellent. Plenty bass, lots of detail and a big soundstage. They disappear quickly too! Delighted with these - and awesome value at £70!!!

Ah, it will have been the 880 that I remember then. Twin bass drivers, but intended to sit on a low stand.
