Pete Shelley - XL1 - 1983 Pete Shelley's second solo album, narrowly beating HomoSapien for the music. Try that as well. He was already a large presence in music fronting the Buzzcocks. The solo albums went off in a different direction. Arguably better by a short head. You may remember the single Telephone Operator. There was a ZX Spectrum computer program featuring lyrics and graphics displayed in time with the music. YouTube link below Play Loud Turn the volume to 11 Spotify:Wiki:en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XL1I bought the original LP and played that a lot. A year or two ago got hold of the CD which has Dub versions of Telephone Operator/Many a Time If You Ask Me/No One Like You Well worth having ! Backed up by Barry Adamson, Jim Russell and the talented Martin Rushent "Dance-oriented synth pop" seems most accurate genre description to me. Described as New Wave in some places, I don't agree. Quite likely "Post Punk" is another description - to cover almost any music ZX Spectrum Visuals here ! Lyrics in glorious UPPER CASE

I'm a big 80's pop fan but wasn't expecting to like this much. Pleasantly surprised. Classic 80's New Wave sound to my ears.
I'm voting 'quite good'.

Sorry, Mike, "Once or twice is enough" for me. It just sounds like Gary Numan's somewhat less talented cousin with a far more annoying voice to me. I like Gary Numan, by the way.

Sorry Mike, I was never a Buzzcocks fan and I don't like this much either. I would struggle to listen to it again so 'Not so keen' for me.
