Courtesy of the management we already had Amazon Prime easy to cough for a Firestick and have it playing for no extra. Amazon Prime featuresSeeing what has become available and what is unique to Amazon I would think hard before cancelling it. Then there's the rest of it for that price of £79 a year. Haven't played with their streaming. Could be good to sample with even if the quality is off as I buy CDs for what I like It has been said that Amazon will eventually become the major player due to their huge budgets, perhaps.... I'm aware of BT Sky Now Virgin Who has compared and reached a conclusion ?

Sky is too expensive and I only keep it for F1.
Netflix has a great selection and a decent user interface, which remembers where you are across multiple programmes and works really well on the PC.

We have NOWTV (Sky entertainment channels) for £7.99 per month
Amazon Prime (£79 annually) The Prime content is good, free, next day delivery on Amazon orders - Useful if you are impatient like me and begrudge paying for delivery. Other Prime benefits include free magazine and book reading on iPad Kindle app. Have'nt tried the Amazon Prime music content.
Netflix (HD) - £9.99 per month. I can usually find something to watch across these subscription services, which beats the interminable crap that passes for most terrestrial TV (I hate reality shows and most soaps).

I have Prime for convenience but it's not really free delivery, the delivery cost is incorporated into the item cost. Very often if you are prepared to wait longer you can get things cheaper.

I also gave up on SKY due to the cost. Now I only use Prime for most things ...

However, it's only 720p resolution and doesn't record Martin, I think NowTV is only limited to 720p resolution via it's own Roku-manufactured add-on box. Certainly, on the NowTV app on my LG OLED flat screen TV, I am getting full 1080p HD resolution! Well worth the monthly subscription for shows like Game of Thrones, Billions, Strike Back, Veep, Silicon Valley etc.

Okay Jules, I accept your point, but when you live with someone who always leaves it until the very last minute to buy things for birthday/Christmas presents, it's a blessing!

I wonder if the boss could exercise some patience and wait a bit longer for deliveries from Amazon. She tried it out for a while, think initially free, then £40 odd, now almost £80 No need for me as I buy 2nd hand CDs.
Currently investigating Amazon Music and playing Eno's Apollo as a test. Not bad. Will find out how to search and hopefully find a way to turn the screen off and still play. Via the PC maybe
I can cope with a lot less TV and want to cut it down further - apart from the cycling of course !

Currently very limited list of "All my artists" on Amazon music. Quite likely the boss's Sound quality fair. Ok for sampling not for serious listening.
Found Search. Only needed to look ! Sonic Youth a good band to search on as hardly mainstream - and here we are playing Evol Blimey they even have The Whitey Album Via Firestick and TV BTW
Can't see a way to queue but you can leave a track playing while you go all over Amazon on the Firestick

I use NowTV for F1. I had a Sky Cinema subscription for a while via NowTV. I've used NowTV via their stick and via a PC. The stick I fine is very unpredictable in terms of video quality, the PC is better but fast moving stuff such as F1 can sometimes suffer serious downscaling as it tries to catch up. My internet connection is fine, I think it's the NowTV or Sky servers. I also have Amazon Prime and Netflix - I have no quality issues with these.

I seem to watch a lot of European drama on 4 catch-up. Just such a shame it's all done in horrible SD quality - wish there was a way to see these in HD, without having to buy them individually of course ...

I have just completed phase 1 of migrating from Sky Q to NowTV. I've signed up for the 7-day trial with NowTV for the Entertainment and Boost (HD) passes. I've setup our LG TV with the built-in app, our bedroom TV on a Roku streamer and my PC using the Windows app. I'm pleasantly surprised at how well it has all gone, as well as the low cost.
Next week I give Sky their marching orders when the contract expires. £92/mo was really starting to irritate me, price increases for no observable improvements.

And I whinge about Amazon being £79 a year and the boss gets he fast deliveries, constantly I strongly object to Murdoch controlling Oz politics and other in the UK and US so I will not subscribe to Sky. Glad they gave up sponsoring Team Sky bike team as that was uncomfortable for me.

There is a fly in the ointment: Sky owns NowTV, but they appear to run quite separately. In any case, it's the only way to receive the Sky channels which carry the best content.

Quite apart from the cost of Sky, I refuse, on principle, to give money to the Evil Empire. Freesat and Amazon will do for me, and tbh if there is anything I want to watch that's outside the scope of those two I can generally "find" it on t'internet.

There is no other way to get F1 and premium content Sky material, so I've settled for giving him less of my money. They're all evil to a greater or lesser extent. We give licence money to the Tristrams who run the BBC, after all.
