Be careful with overloading class D amplifiers, they will indeed fry. You want a parallel load of no less than 4 Ohms. Series connection will give protection to the amp but the sound quality won't be as good.
For parallel load calculation...
1/Rt = 1/R1 + 1/R2
where Rt is the combined impedance and R1 and R2 are the individual speaker impedances.
