As an experiment I replaced the 24V power supply with my 0-12v DC bench supply and it sounded just as good at 12v, and indeed kept going as I wound the voltage down and only stopped working at a gnats under 5v, so the PSU voltage is not critical unless you need the full 50w.

Interesting, Philip. I find that even the higher voltage (14V) of the TA-2021 based T-Amp I have on this here PC runs out of juice too quickly, going into that horrible limited shouty sound that they do when they're stressed. This is for near-field listening!
I've not come across the TPA3116 before, but 24V rail sounds perfect so I shall look it up.
