We were recommended to get a turbo head for our upright vacuum. I wasn't convinced as I tried air driven a few years ago. Not impressed. However SWMBO had spoken Got one dead cheap on Ebay £7 odd including post ! Boy does it work ! Picks up so much stuff No brainer Plus point : It is on small wheels so *much* easier to move around. Great. SWMBO spoke once more. Wanting a second for the other vac. Went for a slightly different model www.ebay.co.uk/itm/321462052782?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649This is even better ! Another potential plus point for me: I'm hoping it will cut down dust on the kit by picking up more bits Insane VFM

Having been through countless makes and models of vacuum cleaners (nearly wrote 'hoover') over the years, some good, most dire, when it came time to replace our twenty five quid Tesco special (which was bloody good actually and only broke because it was accidentally dropped down the stairs) Mrs D and I decided we would push the boat out and get one of quality and sturdiness. We both ruled out a Dyson as Mrs D has owned one before in another life and watched it disintegrate into the ether, and me because our local tip has a Dyson section large enough to warrant its own borough council.
After much gnashing of teeth and the occasional "How much???" we discovered a shop on ebay selling Henry's for a penny shy of a ton. Now my parents owned a very early incarnation of Henry when they ran their pub back in the early 1980's and he was tough, military spec tough and man, that cheery little droid could suck. Mrs D also had fond Henry memories to draw on and besides, her question "How can you resist that cheeky grin?" sort of sealed the deal. We plumped for a Henry plus accessory pack deal which was all but £125 and included within it was a turbo head. If there exists a better gadget for removing pet hair from carpets then I've yet to meet it. With this particular mouthpart installed Henry's appetite for the hair of the dog is voracious

We bought a Kirby years ago. We've upgraded once and get it serviced a couple of times a year. It knocks any other vacuum cleaner (I'm reliably informed by she who uses said device) into a cocked hat.

Kirbys are great - more shiny bits than a '50s Chrysler. We had one for a while and we nearly lost the carpet up it!

We went through the Kirby stage many years ago, great vacs which are built like tanks. Unfortunately they have a mass index akin to that of a neutron star and my missus is very diddy plus my back's fooked, so my days of humping neutronium about are over. Other than that I've no complaints

It is Henry himself in this abode that has been turbo'd

Well she should be posting this up then.
I know there are ladies present but this is a mainly male forum. Therefore the discussions should centre around hifi, guns, fighting, death and tits.
I know,I know.....

Another vote for a Henry here. It just does the job.

I know the world can be a bad place, and guns, violence etc are (in some places) everyday occurrences.
But, I would prefer this forum to be the FRIENDLY place it was purported to be, and leave all the bad things behind.
A haven from all things bad, and just talk about our hobby. (and associated things like cars, motorbikes, railways , lawnmowers and even vacuum cleaners).
And, to be honest, I'm not that keen on "man" language either. It's just not necessary to use swearing or sexual references on here. I'm not a prude, just prefer a non swearing environment.

A vacuum is of course an asexual devise , it is not a tampon .

I'm not so sure about that. There was a celebrated case in A&E recently where a gentleman severely damaged the end of his pride and joy by inserting it into a Hoover Dustette far enough to make contact with the impeller.
