I agree, I buy way too much on eBay (and for work) and problems have been rare. Even one from Taiwan got sorted out and I think turned out to be a genuine error. Buying from Japan has proven to always wok well for me especially.

The first signs are promising. I've not got it positioned, I've literally just lashed it up in the middle of the room, but it's doing good things with Pet Shop Boys, Mel C (don't ask), Kraftwerk, Bob Marley, and currently, Air (Virgin Suicides OST). On to Aly & Fila - The Chill Out.

I was listening to a lot of Radio 2 when Mel C's "Northern Star" album came out, and I really liked the title track. The rest of it, not so much. It's worth keeping as a test album though, just because it's a typical "pop" production, and probably the only one I own. My only other concessions to "singles chart" albums are things like Pet Shop Boys, Soft Cell and Kraftwerk, or albums that were recorded before 1980.

I've given it some time, and shoved some quality music through it, and I can honestly say that the sub is a huge plus. Due to space constraints the speakers for my second system are wall-mounted. I knew that they (Epos ES11s) weren't giving me the bass I wanted, but I was also a bit worried about adding a sub - scare stories about timing etc. - but I needn't have been. After a bit of judicious knob twiddling round the back of the sub I'm now extremely happy. It hasn't made my system sound like a 19-year-old's car, it's actually blended in, to me at least, seamlessly. I've played familiar tracks and they're losing nothing and gaining a much rounder sound. I hadn't realised quite how much the bass was lacking before. It's there now though.

We have a similar positive experience with the Gale subwoofer I bought used for our AV system. The Wharfedale Diamonds are great all-rounders, but adding that missing bottom octave and setting the sub so that it integrates well really fills out the sound and helps Game of Thrones become even more epic!

...the Gale subwoofer I bought used for our AV system. *cough* I believe someone mentioned to you how much a sub could add to your AV experience. Now think how epic it would sound with rear speakers, too.
