Zero 7 - When It FallsThe core of Zero 7 are Henry Binns and Sam Hardaker. To complete the group for different albums and performances, they have used a variety of guest singers over the years, and what a talanted lot they are: Mozez, Sia, Sophie Barker, Tina Dico, Jose Gonzalez, Eska Mtungwazi. I've chosen this album, When It Falls, as being at their height of laid back cool tunes with absolutely gorgeous soundscapes, reminiscent of Air around the time of Moon Safari. It features Mozez, Tina Dico, Sia, Yvonne John Lewis and Sophie Barker on vocal duties. Somersault is probably the best known song with Sia making it her own. Despite its electronic origins, this music throws a big soundstage and sounds superb when reproduced in good resolution. The CD is unusual in incorporating Cactus Data Shield copy protection, preventing it from playing in many PCs. Thankfully this nasty corruption of the data sectors is not present in the streams from Spotify and Qobuz. Turn it up and enjoy! Nice version of Somersault with Sia and Tina Dico performing... Here's Home with Tina Dico...

Yes, based on the number of times I play this it's full marks from me too. There is much more to each song upon further listening so it continues to reward.

Angel Delight from me. It's "nice" and it's "pleasant" and I'll probably check out some more of their albums but there's nothing about this one that makes it essential listening for me. If the marks had been out of ten I'd have given a seven.

Having seen Tina Dico live, she is a supreme performer and very easy with the audience. I could wish that Tina and Sia were a permanent part of the band.

Approached with negative expectation. Confirmed after a few bars, persevered, then not so bad after all. Nice music. Female vocal may even be ok
Need to play this a few times

Reminds me slightly of Cinematic Orchestra which has to be good. Other influences could be in there too
