Reviews, subjective or objective, are still thin on the ground for the new Gustard A26. Not looking to buy one but would certainly like to read more about it.

Its very nice Joolz, would I take it over a properly set up R26, in some areas yes, in others no as you say very subjective. Will spill more on the A26 in the future

The most important fact regardless of cost is purely does the unit really play music? or just a pure hifi artifical polished 'hi end' dross? Conversily the uber flast old flat response 20-20Khz curve 128dB Sinad+ chifi dry bordedom asr routine. Only your ears will know pretty quickly. After all, thats ALL that really matters music or hifi bullshite. Hifi Bullshite can let you slip into the music for hours on end while being entertained, its about cransh, bang whallop, hummmmmmmmmmmmm Jazz cats with a smattering of engineered treble to sparkle like a flute of freshly poured Bolly.  |

Well, I've no way of knowing, but I don't think making money from selling hi-fi is his No.1 objective in life. When the SourcePoint 10 speakers were launched, he was enthusiastic at the prospect of selling them, thinking they were made in the US. When he realised they were in fact made in China, he said he wouldn't be having anything to do with them as he doesn't sell anything made in China. Obviously, if making money was his chief concern, he wouldn't hold that view. If I was looking for one, my budget would have me choosing either of these, possibly. This does have l2s input and 13 regulators: ￡364.65 | New upgrad ES9038PRO DAC decoder IIS input QCC5125 Bluetooth-com 5.1 a.aliexpress.com/_EyZqbCnAnd this has individual power supplies for analogue and digital and l2s. The DAC chipset is unlikely to give you much of a clue as to whether you will like it - perhaps just a general guide. Measurements will likely tell you even less.
Circuit implementation is everything, and that's where the differences lie.

I can see he may not want to sell Chinese gear for political reasons but there's much more money to be made selling esoteric European and American gear than Chinese ... |

No. It's not he doesn't want to sell Chinese products. He doesn't stock anything produced in China, which includes the SourcePoint 10s and other items from High End American names that have products made in China and still charge top $ as would be the case if produced in the US. His own personal viewpoint. Don't know if it extends to other consumer durables.

I'd go for the 9038 configuration if you can stretch to it. No I2S is a bit limiting if you ever want to add a DDC.
