Audio Science Review? You have to not like music to read one of their reviews. Never let them be accused of actually listening to the products they 'review'.

Audio Science Review If it sounds good..."and measures bad, then you're measuring the wrong thing!"
recently received a hand built DHT/NOS/Valve DAC for a client. ASR review & measurements would be shocking but i bought one for myself

I have an EtherREGEN reclocker which works wonders for my system. ASR reviewed that it has no effect whatsoever.
Guess how much respect I have for ASR?

I use Lab12 and Lector DACs and both use valves in the output stages. They too sound great!
When I get back to the UK I intend to see what effect an external reference clock has on the Lector.

Guess how much respect I have for ASR? yeah, over the last few years that’s what has really crept into my conscience over at ASR. It’s like “if you can’t measure it, you can’t hear it”. sound/music and a person’s perception of it is sooo individual. everybody is little different and i heard hearing is one of the big five human senses. enjoy it.

I am! The EtherREGEN, Mutec MC-3+USB and LKS have never sounded so wonderful playing Rakim Live by Dead Can Dance.

Musician Draco - a new ‘entry level’ R2R DAC. Sorry I can’t supply Martin with the measurements! Costs approx $685 + duty etc www.musician-audio.com/en/col.jsp?id=137Can't find any decent pics yet but you get the idea, like a mini Pegasus.

There's only one way to test a DAC and that's to listen to it

This new Matrix streaming DAC looks rather appealing but I don't think I would pay $3k for technology that moves on so quickly. www.matrix-digi.com/en/products/554.html#No decent pictures to post but it's not a work of art anyway.

SMSL M400 v Loxjie D50
Two DAC's which look nearly identical, made in the same factory but with different branding. You might think they are just clones but in fact use different circuitry.

It's a much nicer looking design than some of the older SMSL DACs.

For some reason, the Gustard X26 Pro has not been featured in this thread, so for completion here it is (in superior silver finish). It doesn't look it, but the weight is 7kg (and John's similar A22 felt heavy). Review coming shortly!

It's a much nicer looking design than some of the older SMSL DACs. I still feel their aesthetics let them down somewhat - they just don't look like they mean business. But yes, much better looking than many of their recent efforts.

I'd much rather have a utilitarian design that does the business than a big old case full of fresh air that's covered in bling, as I know most of us would.

I would normally agree, but have you seen some of their older designs?
