Friends, Romans, Countrymen and anyone else reading ... What are your favourite classical 'reference' tracks, purely in terms of sound quality? With vinyl I was sorted for this, but not on spotify - I've got various new bits of kit, big and small to properly test, so I would appreciate your thoughts on this. At the moment I have found the following three recordings to sound pretty special, so would like to add some more to my 'test' playlist. I thank you.

if I had to have just one. Lesser kit just can't hack it, but you don't know what is on there unless your gear is very good. Tricky. ... of course, I don't have a grounding box, so my system is crap anyway.

To really appreciate classical IMO you must hear this, played on vinyl to fully appreciate just what classical can sound like.

I have that vinyl direct cut.
The best performance, though, without a doubt is this. Oh, and the BIS recording is stunning.

Fresh from my test playlist this morning, I can thoroughly recommend this Fantasia with Sir Mark Elder. One of the best sounding I played all morning - mind blowing climaxes, and marvellous double basses…
Let's try and update this thread with spectacular recordings when we get them!

Respighi - Pines, Fountains & The Birds, Lane, Atlanta SO
If you can't feel the organ your bass is not up to snuff. Fab recording!
