In view of the new pricing for Qobuz Studio (£14.99/mo for hi-res streaming up to 24/192) I now consider Qobuz to be excellent value for money and still the best sounding streaming system out there.

Martin - Out of interest, does Qobuz Studio do MQA recordings?

No, I don't believe so. I wouldn't be interested in them, to be honest. MQA is a codec using lossy compression that contains a cabinet of formats down to low-res. What I want is 24/192 in non-lossy FLAC format, which is what Qobuz delivers.

I have three questions about Qoboz I would appreciate help with.
First, do you think it is worthwhile to pay for both Spoti and Qoboz or do you think Qoboz Premier sounds better all round?
Second, if I use a 3rd party app to transfer playlists and library from one to the other, do the originals get deleted from the source app or are they just copied?
Third, am I right in thinking that to use Qoboz with Volumio you need to pay for MyVolumio virtuoso?

I think it is system dependent to which wins out myself. In my view, some albums sound better on Spotify some on Qobuz. So like all things audio, I think you have to see what works best for you. Overall in my system, Spotify wins out. I know Martin has a very different experience. It certainly not as nice to use as Spotify but the price for studio streams is very reasonable right now and you can try for free. You will have to pay extra for the Volumio privilege but if you use Squeezelite on Volumio you can do for free.

It just made me think earlier - the Toto catalogue on Spotify has always sounded like it was recorded by Fisher Price Inc.
Did a quick headphone test between a hi-rez sample on Qoboz and Spoti - Q was in a different league of rez ... Spoti sounded like it was filtered through a big sock. Of course don't want to pay for Q if that's a rare example though ...

On my system the old sock filter is always in place with Spotify compared to Qobuz.
Spotify is OK if you don't do a comparison, but it sounds like a significant system upgrade going to Qobuz.
I've no idea about your other questions.

It's a long time since I tried Qobuz and my system has changed considerably since so will be a worthwhile experiment to trial them again.
Interesting playing with headphone streaming from my phone. Spotify is very strange - if I use it with 'flat' audio settings it is totally lifeless. I have to open up their 'graphic equaliser' and choose a preset to make it sound anything worth listening too.
30 sec samples from Qobuz sound quite a bit 'purer' in terms of quality, and that's me listening on my humble Superlux.

When I updated my Volumio a couple of weeks ago, I didn't enable the Spotify plug-in. Still haven't used it. No, they just get copied. I never bothered using a 3rd party app, just had both Spotify and Qobuz side-by-side and regenerated the lists. Yes. It's only €2.99/mo.

Thanks M - is it possible to organise your Q library at all? Or is it like Spoti, in order of when added to library?

What's Missing From Qobuz?
Let's list them here and send them to Qobuz as feedback. Thankfully, my list is getting ever shorter.
1. Early Zero 7 albums: Simple Things, When It Falls, The Garden 2. The Beloved: Conscience 3. Little Feat: Shake Me Up 4. Climax Blues Band: Sense of Direction (it's there, but please fix it!)

Sometimes a label or artist will do a flounce and remove their work from streaming.
There's no control over that.

A lot of removals will be contractual, same for movies that come and go on Netflix etc.
