That's great, looks like it's designed for an album cover! Straight out of the camera as well , just cropped it .

Assuming you managed to avoid the Sangria, that could almost be a Lou Reed moment!

You're using cine film for still shots??

You're using cine film for still shots?? Yes, I'm buying big rolls of 35mm stock and loading my own cassettes. The price of 'normal' film is getting pretty high, and this way, it works out extremely cheaply and it's a really lovely film as well. A new 400 foot roll costs about £180 and you can get 80 or so 36 exp rolls from that, so £2.25 per roll. Contrast that with about £17 for a 35 exp roll of Kodak Portra or Ektar. If you buy your bulk film as what are known as short ends, it can work out even cheaper. The last one I got was 250-odd feet for about £60 (£1.20 per roll), which would have cost ~850 quid if it were full price stills film.

I like that lateral thinking, very clever. Am I right in thinking it's quite a contrasty film?

I think the contrast is increased a bit when it's processed in the C41 process, as opposed to the ECN2 that it was designed for. The big disadvantage of using it is that it can't be processed by a normal lab because of an anti-static layer on the non-emulsion side of the film. The bulk of this has to be removed with an alkali solution prior to developing and the remainder has to be washed off at the end. It's a horrible black gunky mess!

You process this in a tank? I only ever did E46 (slide film) processing.

Yes, I use the Rollei C41 chemical kit and a Paterson tank. E46 is something I have never tried yet, but I'll get there!
