I'm in the middle of completely over hauling my Sondex 100 amp. Currently I'm looking at replacing the four large caps in the power supply.
I've been looking over at HiFi Collective and have short listed several brands mainly :-
Audio Note, Axial, BHC, ClarityCap, Cornell Dubilier, Evox, F&T Electrolytic, Jensen, LCR Mundorf, Nichicon
I'm not restricting myself any of the above brands. I can't see myself wanting to sell the Sondex Amp and I'm prepared to invest heavily in the amp as I think it's my last port of call in Valve amplifiers.
So my question is quite simple what do you consider the very best cap replacement for PSU duties?

It used to be DNM Slit Foil caps, but I'm not sure who might be making slit foil caps now.
What values do you need?

Thanks Martin. I haven't dismantled the amp yet so values unknown, probably a job for Boxing day when I'm bored.

Martin not good there impedance goes up with increased frequency, I did test on them in the 1980s for Martin Columns, I would not recommend them.

The choice of caps. mmm
Ripple Frequency needed fro PSU Ripple current needed at full load Max full load frequency current and thus ripple at this load. Temperature expected Life time expected. ESR needed. Max working voltage at mains high plus 10-20% or better.
Lots to consider so be careful.

Fair enough, Colin. I thought they were the DBs but that was a long time ago.

I am with Colin on this one, never really seen any reason to use at all, always generated a non satisfactory result in my book
