This is Costco, which means they must be confident enough in sales to stock it!

Amazon charges £2,400.00 for the same whisky, AND for £3.00 delivery. www.amazon.co.uk/Highland-Park-Year-Old-70cl/dp/B003ZIU5DGI had to laugh, right above the display on the Amazon page is the " What do customers buy after viewing this item?" section, which shows three whiskies at £24.00, £25.00, and £26.09.

Bargain. I remember in my drinking days, I was invited to a bar in London with work which specialised in exotic whiskey, and the cost of a single glass was astronomical. I was certainly glad the supplier was paying!

A friend of mine was telling me the other day a story from a client, who was treated to a very special brandy on a business trip. He initially thought it was ~£30 for a glass but later found out he was out by a factor of 100!!

Bargain. I remember in my drinking days, I was invited to a bar in London with work which specialised in exotic whiskey, and the cost of a single glass was astronomical. I was certainly glad the supplier was paying! In another lifetime, or that's how it seems now, I was known to pull a few sessions behind the bar as well as multitudinous ones propping it up. Long story short, I worked near Tower Pier in London, and Bells Whisky had a barge that they sponsored visits to via the Licensed Victualers Assoc. Roger and Sally, landlord and landlady of my local, got said invite, and I was forced to join them (gilt-edged invite and all) as their "Bar Manager." Knocked off work for lunch, hit the Bells Barge, met up with Roger and Sally (and the folk duo we'd brought with us. Bells thought that was brilliant.) scarfed tons of grub plus 12-year-old, 25-year-old, and "Special Reserve Malt." Not the one you could/can(?) buy in the shops. Got absolutely hammered and then went back to work. Well, I say "back to work," but what I actually mean is I staggered off to meet some mates in the pub. It truly scares me now to think of the way I used to carry on.

Just as well it wasn't the Bells you get in the local offie as that stuff is horrendous gut rot! Unless it has changed radically in the past 30 years since my grandfather used to drink it ...

We definitely got the good stuff, Jules, and it would have been well over 30 years ago now that I think about it. I'm not sure if that isn't even scarier.

Not whisky, but I was once treated to a glass of wine from a bottle valued at well into four figures. I got the full preamble and was reminded of how lucky I was. It takes more than a glass of wine to make me feel lucky, but I played along with being wowed. When I finally tasted it, it was utter shit. A combination of vinegar and corked.
