Californian Indie band Eels were formed in 1995 they have released twelve albums to date. Beautiful Freak is their debut album released in 1996 and the only one I own as I haven't long been introduced to them and I like to start from the beginning . This being such a strong album I thought it worthy for Album Club , like me you will no doubt recognise a couple of tracks which were singles but not necessarily the best on the album in my opinion.

I played the bejeezus out of this album during the 90's! Looking forward to hearing it again.

I quite enjoyed it, and it reminded me of Babybird in places, who I like, but nothing dragged it above "O.K." for me. I shall listen to some of their other albums, though. 7/10

This album usually ranks as their second best , Electro-Shock Blues being acclaimed as their best , not heard it myself.

I listened to this again yesterday and still agree with my 10/10 rating, it is an excellent album. It was one of those albums I discovered when I was going through my buying albums from Amazon at 1p phase, what a purchase

I played this album yesterday and was reminded how much it uses pauses and dynamic changes to great effect. I also really enjoyed the lyrics. Mr E is a troubled lad! Great album - 9/10 from me.
I shall be playing 'Daisies of the Galaxy' tonight, which is my favourite Eels album.

It's great in parts but not uniformly good. I'm not keen on the narrative parts. Not Ready Yet is rather good. I want to like this album more than I actually do and will undertake to listen to more Eels in future. 7/10.

Blast from the past. I had the cd, listened to it a bit back in the day. The cover is the best bit 6/10, no that's a bit harsh 7/10 - I like the rhythm section, undertones, break outs and crappy vocals. The deep bass on some tracks is always welcome
