^ some call it a resistor volume control as it is a passive stepped attenuator. But it is remote controlled as well, so maybe it should be called a RRVC!
I've got one as well, and it is remarkably transparent.

In which case Jules chooses a pistol.

Gentlemen, I remembered that I had bought this incredibly rare and expensive piece of Far Eastern hifi esoterica to try in the main system, but whilst that is dormant, I shall try it with the Mac headphone set-up.

OMG what a steal. I paid $35 delivered for these BQEYZ Hybrid Technology in-ear phones. They sound terrific just plugged straight into my phone but sometime I'll try them with the Topping NX4. Just couldn't ask for more at that price.

Damn these earphones are good!
Really fun to listen to, great dynamics and I get a really good volume level from my mobile. Bass can be surprisingly good too ...

A good friend of mine has given me what looks like a new pair of Kimber 4PR speaker cable which was too short for him. I can't speak directly to 4PR but I did use 4TC and, later, 8TC cable to good effect.

I'm going to have a 3 way shoot-out with three very different cables - the vintage Western Electric, Audience and Kimber. Winner takes all!

I have quite a lot of catching up to do when I finally get to fire up the system in coming weeks.
Here's what I'm looking forward to testing -
- battery power for the Oehlbach - new passive volume control - silver USB cable from Oehlbach to DAC - Supra mains block - QED Reference Audio 40 RCA interconnects x 2 - Kimber speaker cable - Audience speaker cable - Chi-fi USB isolator

Try not to change more than one thing at a time, or else you're going to get really confused.
