Neal Schon - Piranha Blues (1999)
Brilliant album I play constantly.
Discovered Neal Schon following a rabbit down a hole as he was in Santana. At least interesting for me to investigate. This album is unlike any of his others so bear that in mind when ferreting in his impressive back catalogue.
Play Loud !
Spotify:
You Tube:
Enjoy listening to any of his albums Also in Journey which I find 'ok'

I heard another album by Neal Schon that Mike introduced me to and loved it, so looking forward to hearing this one.

My favourite Neil Schon album is probably "Voice," but I have this one too. I'm looking forward to playing it again.

Sorry Mike, not for me.
The musicianship was superb as I expected, but I'm really not much of a blues fan at all. I also found the vocals rather grating. The one track I really liked was Lonesome Road - probably as it was more straight up hard rock than blues, much more my kind of thing.

Only a three, despite the fact that I own it. Great musicianship but nothing to make it stand out from the pack. I caught myself thinking things like "that was lifted from Gary Moore" and, "ah, there's the Hendrix trib." Brilliant guitarist, not such a brilliant songwriter here.

I expected to like it more. His voice isn't great but his musicianship comes through fine. Fairly standard blues and not up to Gary Moore, for instance. 3/5.

Afraid I didn't like this that much, which is strange given I really like 'Beyond The Thunder', it's certainly not an album I would buy.
I guess it is an album I might play now and again on Spotify, so I am going to give it 3/5.

Doh soon as I read Santana , saw a guitar on the cover and the blues I knew this wouldn't be for me. So give it a chance and I always do but no, no , no all those wrong boxes were well and truly ticked , sorry Mike don't like it .

I'm not impressed with this at all. It's uninspired plank wanking of the most tedious kind.

An apt description, plank-wanking. But, it's fun imo, and sounds fun to play it. Vocals sound so much like Sammy Hagar to me. If this was playing and I had no wat to shut it off I wouldn't kill myself, just the vocals, man.

Doesn't do it for me. That certain formula that is required that means a piece of music just had the right, rhythms, tones, song writing, lyrics etc, just isn't there for me.

Revisiting as I have left a few 'not for me' comments on other choices Still find it magnificent Perhaps we don't all agree on what fabulous music is
