I had an 'interesting' experience this afternoon. I popped into the studio this afternoon, which is fairly unusual, so turned the system on and selected a couple of albums that I often listen to while tidying up etc. However, things didn't sound quite right; rather lacking in finesse and it all sounded a bit subdued. At first I thought it was something I'd done as I'd been fiddling with cables on Friday, but after careful checking all seemed correct. So, I switched to CD to double-check and all sounded as it should which made me wonder if it was something in the streaming path, but when something was played from the NAS in the studio rather than from Tidal all was well. Going back to Tidal was again somewhat subdued and quite different to how it normally is. The only thing I can add is that I rarely use Tidal in the studio at the weekend (I'll see what it's like tomorrow): maybe more users are logged in. Anyway, I wondered if anyone else has noticed something similar or has a good theory.

I can't speak to any recent change but I have so far found Tidal to be a bit polished and dull whenever I have heard it. Not so Spotify and Qobuz when directly compared.

Interesting. I went for Tidal because of the higher resolution and, up until today, found the delivery pretty good. I'll see how it sounds tomorrow.
