Feeling a bit Bach this morning:lol:.... One that has been waiting to be played, it was one of several freebies from a collection belonging to the Dad of a friend, great condition and as usual for Decca good recordings and pressing. Sounding great on the Chris Roger's PRO9 Transmission Lines, lots of clarity, detail and oomph in the lower registers(without bloom/boom). Bach* – Favourite Composers Label: Decca – DPA 535/6, Decca – DPA.535, Decca – DPA.536 Series: Favourite Composers Format: 2 x Vinyl, LP, Compilation, Gate Fold Country: UK Released: 1976

The purist in me baulks at the idea of 18th C harpsichord music played on a piano, but this recording does have plenty of character and is worth investigating.

Decca SPA had some stunning recordings.
If you don't have it, I can highly recommend SPA 183 - Campoli playing the Tchaikovsky.

Benedetti Baroque.
Listened to Geminiani's Concerto Grosso and I was Engrossed Mucho. Just a sublime ensemble performance, so much passion for the music. Next for the Vivaldi ...

The Vivaldi which makes up the rest of this album is superb too ... an essential album for Baroque lovers IMO.

This one is very peaceful Also on Qobuz. Surprisingly deep bass. 15-16Hz at healthy amplitude. From my system. See the red peak plot. Not many speakers will play this deep, so you can hear / feel it.

Felt like some Mozart for a change, some classical rock of the day:lol:... I am quite a Mozart fan so have put a few notes for you that may not be familiar, not mine but from liner notes. If you come across these Time Life recordings in a charity or 2nd-hand shop do not hesitate if they are in good condition, they are generally very well selected recordings, the vinyls themselves are excellent with virtually no background noise, some of the best classical records I have, and I have 4 of these Mozart boxed sets, all great. Mozart*, Various – The Late Symphonies Label: Time Life Records – STL-M02 Series: Mozart – STL-M02 Format: 5 x Vinyl, LP, Compilation, Box Set Country: Canada Released: 1979 Symphony No.30 In D Major, K.202 (24:57) Notes "Composed between 1773 and 1774 with Not. 22 to 30, when Mozart was a young man, being just 18 years. No 30 seems to have been written as an afterthought as an occasional piece, that may have had a direct social function as its stimulus.. ...written in a style that is of popular festivity, with much fanfare, pomp and circumstance." Conductor – Jaap Schröder Harpsichord – Christopher Hogwood Orchestra – The Academy Of Ancient Music Conductor – Jaap Schröder Harpsichord – Christopher Hogwood Orchestra – The Academy Of Ancient Music A1 Molto Allegro 8:55 A2 Andantino Con Moto 5:42 A3 Menuetto 5:04 A4 Presto 5:16 Symphony No.31 In D Major, K.297 (Paris) (18:25) "Commissioned for performance in Paris, .....the tone of the piece reflect's Mozart's determination to give the Parisiens what they wanted.... The entire piece, except for the slow movement is designed for effect, which only Mozart's genius prevents it from falling into empty display. A sense of glittering brilliance rules the music, and the virtuosity of excecution goes beyond anything he had written before." Conductor – Karl Münchinger Orchestra – Klassische Philharmonie Stuttgart Conductor – Karl Münchinger Orchestra – Klassische Philharmonie Stuttgart B1 Allegro Assai 8:00 B2 Andantino 6:15 B3 Allegro 4:10 B4 Symphony No.32 In G Major, K.318, Allegro Spiritoso—Andante—Tempo I (8:21) "Soon after Mozart left Paris he composed this Symphony, K.318, but it is not a symphony in the same sense, it is an overture and often titled as such. Albert Einstein, was quite convinced that the symphony was meant to server as Zaide's Overture. (K.344 is titled Zaide) and there is a thematic dualism between the two. Conductor – Sir Neville Marriner Orchestra – The Academy Of St. Martin-in-the-Fields Conductor – Sir Neville Marriner Orchestra – The Academy Of St. Martin-in-the-Fields
