This probably dose not belong here but kind of haunting and beautiful That could certainly be filed under "Classical" It is very good! Although I'd have to file the following track on the album as "Classical - Weird Shit"

This is an interesting and impressive Rachmaninov pc3. I like it a lot.
I was scuttling down a musical rabbit hole focused on the conductor Eugene Ormandy when I came across this performance by Vladimir Ashkenazy from 1963.
Looking up his birth year to see how old Ashkenazy was at the time - 25/26 - I learned he'd been an Icelandic citizen since 1972. I didn't know that!

Most interesting Jerry.
I've only been aware of the Rach recordings he made with Previn.

Well worth a listen, Jules. The 3rd is with Ashkenazy, the 4th with Phillipe Entremont. Must admit I'm not a fan of the 4th.
Excellent conducting by Ormandy in the 3rd. And very good sq, too.

Better than Vänskä?

Anthony Ritchie is a very listenable composer.
There's an interesting double concerto for bass clarinet and cello on this album. The other 2 orchestral pieces are good, too.

Better than Vänskä? That's not much of a challenge - a concussed halibut is better than Vanska.

This is a good Anthony Ritchie album, as well.

Although I'd have to file the following track on the album as "Classical - Weird Shit" Yes, it really is!

This is an interesting and impressive Rachmaninov pc3. I like it a lot. That is a very good performance and the orchestral accompaniment is somehow more empathetic than many. The recording is very good for such an old one, the piano is very well captured and there's some weight in there, too. Strings are a bit rough, though.

Douglas Lilburn chamber music for string quartet and subdivisions thereof.
I love the laidback vibe to this album.

I just love this live recording of Sorcerer's Apprentice.
There are a few coughs and splutters from the audience but the orchestra is fully committed and sound quality is excellent, with dynamics a gogo.
