I have that early ASM recording on vinyl and it’s fair to say it’s not in the same league as her live performance of it nowadays - I think I only played it once!
Maybe there is some truth in the belief that the Beethoven requires a certain life experience to really understand it.

I thought the Karajan accompaniment was knockout but I didn't like the tone of her violin more than her playing, and that DG recording is simply poor with distortion on crescendos. If life experience is required, Gergiev got an almighty load of it at a young age.

Ylva Skog - violin concerto. Rather good. Not too scary Piano concerto also worth looking into.
