The Chandos recording is much slower and more stately, almost "more Russian" than the version you're playing, Jerry. The first movement of that DG version runs 13:18 whereas the Chandos has a first movement of 15:54

Svetlanov here is slower and far more affective

The third movement is rather good. Also listening to the DG posted by Jerry.

I remember the day the plane crashed killing some of the Lynyrd Skynyrd group - very sad.

Oh dear.
Some beautiful singing and music, shame about the 50p set design. I use the word 'design' loosely. What on earth are the twin chimneys meant to symbolise?!?
And then there is the lip sync. It's not just out, some of the mouth movements suggest it is being sung by a completely different person!
What do you think?

Yes, seriously weird all round. They went to a fair bit of trouble to get those chimneys in there - I guess they mean something to someone? They really could and should have tried harder with the lip sync.
Nice singing, though, and lovely music that I don't recall hearing before.

It just came up as a suggestion on my YT feed.
Here's the album on Spoti I have saved for later.
