Go on Mike, give it try you know you are itching! While you are there you couple wrap some emi reduction around the plug to

Don't think I hear any difference. Just a simple fix to relieve added stress on the power cord connection.

Yes that would have been quite something if you got a sound upgrade there.

You've given me ideas. I have a few 'saggy' IEC connections that could use a little support. The heavy power cables don't help.

There is a thread on the Ps Audio forum where they discuss supports for iec cables. They found different materials sound different.

In all seriousness, putting too rigid a prop behind the component to hold up the power cable is short-circuiting the isolation work of the footers - if they're good. That would lead to changes in the sound, but likely not for the better.

That would lead to changes in the sound, but likely not for the better. Never thought about that possibility, but you may be correct. I am using some really nice RevoPods under my EMM Labs DV2 da/preamp.

This is very old hat goes back years, I did do some experiments with a few differernt types of materials before curing the emi issue at source (again my trusty near field RF probes tell all here), the vibration thing purely depends on cable construction, amount of microphany which is actually travelling down the cable, angle of incedence, amount of height from shelf to IEC socket. Anne did wonder why I have a bunch of sensors strapped to & hanging off a mains cable whist studying the screen intently, pretty sure he thoughts were 'Barking Mad' I used to have one single piece of equipment which really did benefit from a mains cable support, however it's long gone now. This requires the usual TAS approach to an indepth real world study, Damien or Matt spot a internet article, give it try, think humm, then refine it and bingo its a positive, Mike will stroke the doggies (think Blofelt in bond), meditate after several cups of finest tibetian green herbal tea, then make that decision as whether to proceed to tweaking black belt 5th dan. Joolz would only preceed after a good session with Copain or Sibelius violin concerto after a most civilised afternoon libation of a single malt, Slinger will be keeping TAS updated with all of the relevant days news feeds of merit with the occassion interjection of 'humm really?' John will be giving his Gold Notes a good seeing to and basking in the joys of musical reproduction, Martin will be benchmarking another clock cable, Moi I never dismiss anything until ther fat lady sings and that's the big bonus of TAS its is the total anti thesis of ASR and a safe haven for audio nutters its a pleasureable place to reside and does make me smile during a stressfull day.
Now to the ethernal question does my fuse make BIG in this dac

My cordial thanks to Coherent Tony for brightening up my morning with such an erudite missive, both enlightening and entertaining in equal measure. Your place in audio legend is most indubitably assured, Sir.
Now back to Nordic musings with The Swan of Tuonela ...

Let’s just hope the Don’t use TAS as evidence to commit us to the loony bin instead of a nice retirement home when the day comes.
