CD - diy modified Naim CD3.5 (pfm flea powered tentlabs clock, acoustica mods, gryators and fancy regs here and there, pfm mosfet gyrator on digital, four power supplies - three for dac chip, one for everything else, bypassed output anologue stage
Vinyl - Pioneer PL-71 OR LP12 + Aro + lyra argo + Rubikon sub chassis + Avondale taps II psu
Phono stage - NVA Phono 1 (soon to be modded by me to Phono 3 status with four psu's and regulators
Power amps - 6 channels of diy NVA style with two psu's per channel, front end regulators
Speakers - diy NVA inspired isobaric 3 way semi omni's (12" bass, 5 " mid (all doped), 1" soft dome tweeter, bass & mid run wide open)
Cables - NVA TIS, NVA LS6, home made mains cables
Support- Rustic rack (diy of course)

Last update for my second system for some time I think. I'm still waiting for a couple of the bits to arrive, but as you can see, cable-wise especially, it's changed quite dramatically over the last week or so.

Paul, you might want to consider trying a USB CD drive into the Asus as Volumio handles CD playback very well. It would enable you to move the Primare on and raise funds for other things?

Just a thought! I take your point, but I'm really happy with the sound and the synergy the two Primare components produce, not to mention the aesthetics of the combination. Also it would mean my paying for a Superstar or Virtuoso account I believe, so financially it wouldn't actually do me any favours. The only thing I might consider trying, (but not in the foreseeable future) is swapping the Primare CD player out for a CD transport, like the CXC. |
