Made in Swiss-land. Quite pretty ... The reviews and online comments are all good, but has anyone here heard them and care to comment? They have been at a few international and UK shows over the last few years.

Can't say I've ever seen them, Jerry. That bass driver looks quite distinctive. Are they in DarTZeel price territory?

No, for a mere £20k you can probably only buy DarTZeel speaker jumper cables.

Nice. They remind me of the Audio Physic designs from a few years back ...

I have had a few pairs pass through our hands Jerry, we were even offered the distributorship back in 2010, lovely level of construction, a very distinctive sound the smaller stand mount models offer the best all round performance imho. You can pick those up for around £3K, tonally they should be up your ally, only downside AE are the current distributors (or where so UK value is good for your buyers)
Have a chat with Ob (Winters Audio) he can give you a more in depth insight into them.

Nice. They remind me of the Audio Physic designs from a few years back ...Yes, indeedy. Going by the 6 Loons review of the somewhat lesser W11 they have a lot in common with Audio Physics speakers. -- I used to have the AP Virgo 2 and enjoyed them a lot. I'd want AP-plus, though. They did fall short in terms of detail retrieval.

Ah, interesting. Thanks, Tony. If I went for the standmounts I could hang on to my MBLs as well if I felt so inclined. They seem to excel at soundstaging, going by the review on 6 Moons and elsewhere, but I'd be concerned about detail retrieval - are they up to MBL standards in that regard? (I know you aren't a great MBL fan.) Anywhere down South that I could get a listen, do you know? So - where can I get a pair for £3k?

Hi Jerry
We affectionately call them Bonwhacky's Sven the designer is a real character and nice guy, I feel the offer more musical insight that the AP's at that level, they're forte' is allowing you to look into the music and really get to grips with the musical interplay between musicians. However they are not really for Symphonic or large scale rock music, delicacy is another trait they possess.
They can go quite loud, but they are not about moving large amounts of air!

I had a beautiful pair of Virgo 2's and could hear how much potential they had, but the side firing bass was never going to really work with the limitations of my speaker placement. One of the very few speakers I was sad to have to move on ...

A couple of guys on The Wam have got the W8s , one exhibited at the last show , small , thin , floorstanders with incredible sound , excellent for small/medium rooms and near field listening . About £5k and the only speaker I really would like for my current room .

What are you replacing your Alabaster with Barry?

I had a brief dem of the W11 with the swing base. Wanted to like them but I found them lacking at the bottom end which I found surprising given the fairly large side driver. However, they look wonderful and the dealer has sold loads so as always you have to hear them for yourself to appreciate their qualities. Not cheap!

Thanks for that, Scotty In fact, I heard a pair of W8 at the Wigwam forum's Kegworth show earlier this year which I assume gave me some insight into the 'house sound'. Very nice, but not competition for my MBLs imo, so that was handy!

Ha ha, I've only just joined this forum and was about to ask if any love for Boenicke. I have a pair of W11, and before that Audio Physic Codex. I love the W11, the first speaker that may end the changes. They just work for me, great clarity, punchy bass and instruments sound very authentic. If I change them it will only be to the flagship W13.

They do need some power to run also. I run mine with a Mark Levinson 5805 and when I play electronica the bass is there in spades. Deep, yet tuneful and awesome timing.
