Hans Theessink - Call Me (1992)I first came across this album in the mid to late 90's, when my Dad's crazy friend from America brought it round on one of his visits. Instantly I was hooked on the voice and the style of laid back blues. Recently I have become aware of some of the collaboration work he has done with the likes of Terry Evans and Ry Cooder, demonstrating how good he truly must be. This was one of my first intros into the world of the Blues genre and I have fond memories of rushing home to play it after school and college. Spotify:Wiki: The only link I can find in Wiki is for Hans Theessink himself. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hans_Theessink

Never heard of it or him but impressed at some of the names of supporting musicians that appear on the cover. Looking forward to giving it a go!

A three from me I'm afraid. It's all very nice, but blues isn't supposed to be nice. The musicianship is good and that's what scored the three, I do not like his voice at all. He sounds like the sort of country singer I hate and if you hadn't told me it was a blues album I'd never have guessed. I found myself fast-forwarding through the tracks without finding one I that wanted to listen to all the way through. More Beige then Blues.

I love blues, I listen to blues, I play blues guitar, it wasn't what I call blues. It's as simple as that I'm afraid.

It moves along at a decent pace. His voice isn't really for me, but it's all quite pleasant. It doesn't grab me, though. 6/10.

Not keen on the voice. Reminds me of Dire Straits even more laid back
