My tweaky heads been niggling me since getting new speaker cable, took 10 minutes to do this and very glad I did. Music flows slightly better and is a touch more open at the top end, especially on female vocals. Its worth getting your cable up off the carpet folks, no audio foo required.

Hmm ... my speaker cables are lying on a concrete fireplace surround. Is that the same as raising them, I wonder?

Suppose the surface the cables sit on can potentially make a difference?
Thinking carpet, static...

Some speaker cables are quite well shielded whereas others have very little electrical shielding. So maybe the effect depends on the type of cable. I do think you need proppa audiophile cable lifters, though.

Mine is resting on a tiled floor. I could experiment with something absorbent like sorbothane pucks.

I use the Shunyata cable lifters and like what they do I wouldn’t sell them.

Of course, the purist would avoid metal and plastic and use only natural materials for lifting the cables. Those metal hooks would be very much a no-no.
That Be Yamamura chap was all for that sort of thing iirc.

Coated in rubbery plastic As Be Yamamura might say "very rubbery"

One of my speaker cables runs across the all of the TV gubbings, so I could do with improving things. I like the idea that gazjem has come up with and may just try it.
