I've got two Arcam DVD players and both are very good with CD and as a CD transport. DV147 and DV29. Nothing wrong with the idea at all imo.

i use oppo 105 and 205 bluray players else where in the house, but this denon is pretty cool for a old machine, plays copied sacd, dvda and cd`s.i may change some bits and bobs inside when i get bored with it.at the moment im comparing it with some old cd players, marantz cd63 flip lid, rotel 965bx,marantz 94,meridian,marantz se 63 and 67 discrete, philips 104 and rotel 820 bx(1541 chip)its amazing how different the sound is,well that`s a few more hours of my life wasted,im enjoying it anyway.looking for an old arcam cd player(1541 chip) then this system will match, something like arcam delta/alpha for what is that worth cosmetically

I had a 2910 and it wasn’t half bad as a transport, but did sound a bit top and bottom happy with no connection between.
The CXC came next and was a substantial upgrade over the DVD player as a transport.
