I'm Paul, savvypaul, often shaken, occasionally stirred. I'm a regular poster at HiFi Subjectivist and Audio Addicts, and I author a satirical blog hififoofight.org/ I keep the above two 'personalities' separate - my posts are not the views of HiFiFooFight, and vice versa. I've been into hifi for around 35 years, since my mid-teens. Been through lots of different gear. My system is shown below, although I've moved things round a little since this was taken. I've joined here to chat and to attend and help organise bake-offs.

Hi Paul, Welcome to The Audio Standard.
Apologies that the approval for your registration here took a while. It doesn't usually take that long, but today we all seem to have let you slip through our fingers for one reason or another.
Your room looks like a very pleasant place to inhabit.

Hi Paul and welcome to TAS. The NVA and Klipsch speakers must give you a very different window on the music.

Hi Martin, I just got the Heresys a few days ago as part of my plan to put together a vintage inspired 2nd system. Looking at adding a 'dinky' low powered tube amp and a refurbished Lenco or Garrard with an SPU. I haven't found anything to beat the Cubes in my room. The Heresy, et al, is my 'mid-life crisis'

Hah! Not being a biker like many of my mates, my midlife crisis is my sports car

Welcome from me too Paul - great picture of your system ...
Would love to hear a WTL sometime, looks a very handsome deck there and the engineering of the arm looks most interesting.
Couldn't miss the 'Marriage of Figaro' vinyl - are you much of an opera fan?

The NVA and Klipsch speakers must give you a very different window on the music. I was going to say exactly the same thing. Having heard both NVA speakers (a long time ago) and the Klipsch, I think I know which I would prefer. The Heresy doesn't half chuck it at you! Am I correct in reading into the title of this thread that you come from the top right corner of our fair land?

I like it a lot, and most other classical 'genres'. I'm a hopeless romantic - Dvorak, Schubert, Chopin and so on. The WTL is interesting in all respects...anything that uses fishing line and a golf ball should be capable of raising a few eyebrows! It does have an endearing purity, also. If you're near the North East anytime, pop in for a listen.

Lived here for around 17 years, originally from Essex...guvnor! Are you popping round for a cuppa sometime? I do around 3 bake-offs a year. The Klipsch are going to be for nostalgia. Flawed but fun. Though, I'm told that the Mk3 I have are less 'violent' than the early ones...

Great to have another classical vinyl lover on board - not so many of us around!
It’s funny, but opera is the one classical genre that I still have trouble getting into - my mother keeps trying to drag me down to Glyndebourne but I’ve resisted so far … Saying that, a Maria Callas lp that I heard at a recent bake-off is on the shopping list now.
Would be great to hear your WTL - Manchester is normally as far north as I get, visiting family, but you never know!

Curiouser and curiouser..... A drone taking a sentient move away from the Borg Collective that is HFS......Considering the constant abuse and bad mouthing that this forum and its owner/admins have to endure there I wish you good fortune in treading that particular tight rope ...I also hope that you enjoy spending your time here Paul.

Hi Paul. As you might be down in S Yorks later in the year for a look at a Goldring TT. I have a little ECL86 valve amp that would work a treat with your Klipsch Heresies. It works great with my Fane 12" full range jobbies, which are 100dB efficient.
It might give you an idea what is possible from flea power amps coupled with high efficiency speakers.
