The one that handles 4K Ultra HD. Does anybody use one? Are they any good?
I've just bought a refurbished model from Amazon, mainly so I can access Prime Video on the 55"' telly rather than my 27" computer monitor. It also gives me another option for watching the World Cup in 4K. I can get iPlayer on the telly but I'll hardwire the Fire TV box to the router so I won't have to rely on the current wireless TV connection. The Fire TV will directly replace my Beelink Kodi box which really doesn't get used these days.
So, the horse has already bolted but who wants to tell me if it's worth closing the stable door?

Lots of technology there. I won't visit as my very presence will break all of it Will your broadband cope ? I will be embedded in the Tour de France when the football event gets interesting, and England will have been home for a while

I had the stick version but had buffering issues That doesn't bode (baud? ) well. That's why I'm going to run Cat6 to the Fire box. I've just done a quick speed test, and I'm still hopeful. I think 51.1Mbps at half-past eight on a Saturday night should be good enough for 4K.

That doesn't bode (baud? ) well As Basil Brush would say, boom boom! It made me groan Are those speeds uncontended? I'd expect the 4K over iPlayer to grind the internet to a near standstill at match times.

Not using Fire but must admit I don't find much worth watching on Prime Video - bit disappointed really ... I cancelled my Prime when it came around to renewal time. I recently took it up again, this time for a month only, as the cost of P&P for a CD came to around half the cost of a month's Prime membership. It's now set to remind me when it gets near to expiry time.
The latest things to arrive here were (a) a pair of Vic Firth American Classic 5A drumsticks, and (b) an Evans 6" Real Feel practice pad. I may well play guitar and bass regularly, but I'm a frustrated drummer at heart, and I enjoyed a recent afternoon sat behind a kit for the first time in at least 30 years. I could do with doing something to get my drumming chops in some kind of form ....
Prime video? They're not knocking out The Grand Tour episodes every week, so for me it's not worth it.

Not using Fire but must admit I don't find much worth watching on Prime Video - bit disappointed really ... I hear you man. At my home we haven't had cable TV on a year so we have unlimited data on our phones and subscriptions to Hulu, Netflix, Prime and Spotify. Prime is good imo, but not in its own. I can stay interested if I alternate between the 3 movie services. Although my habits with Prime for months now are shows The Terror along with Tom Hardy in The Take. Occasionally I slowly make my way through s1 of the HBO animated series Spawn, and between all that I'll catch a movie. Each time new movies are released I'll end up liking one or two. Plus, with a subscription to the Starz channel I have a decent selection of content. So in the last month while watching the above mentioned shows I saw quite a few throw away forgettable films but with these gems sprinkled in: The Thing Life Mark Felt Armored Eastern Promises

In fact, as I mentioned, the Fire TV box will replace my (standard) Kodi box. I'm fed up with messing around with VPNs and all sorts of arcane now-you-see-me-now-you-don't tricks. For the first time in my life, I want to do things legally. I've still got Kodi on my PC if I really need it though. I've already paid for Prime so for another seventy-five quid I've gained some films, a few series I may, or may not, enjoy, and hopefully the best way of watching every game at The World Cup in the highest definition available to me. If that all comes to pass it'll be worth it.

Thought Prime delivery gave the TV free. That's what the boss said. ....... Not the best checker of money out

Thought Prime delivery gave the TV free. That's what the boss said. ....... Not the best checker of money out It does come free, Mike. I've bought the box to give me the easiest route to the "big" telly rather than my computer monitor or casting it to the telly via my Chromebook etc. I'm just (hopefully) simplifying things and giving myself the best achievable (for me) download speeds.

Yes, I'd already got Prime, and I paid a one-off price for the Fire TV Box to plug into the TV.
