Why not? There are plenty of people like me who still have large tape collections. I can't often be bothered to play them on the main system but would play them more often on something like this.

A section of today's youth are somewhat intrigued by the medium. And it's still has a following in Japan, I think.

I can't see students buying them to display them on the wall as art, like they apparently do with records though, can you? If they were going to do that, they probably already would have, and you don't need a new cassette player for that anyway!

I've still got a large collection Chris, all from my Walkman days... sure, they're in boxes in the loft and I only keep them for sentimental reasons, but I have a decent Yamaha cassette deck just in case I feel the urge to reminisce
However, returning to the subject of this thread, if anybody feels the need to visit this [sarcastic mode on] latest advance in tape technology [sarcastic mode off] I'd recommend checking out the link below:

I wonder if the huge success of Marvel's two "Guardians Of The Galaxy" films have had any influence on the younger generation (being of the older generation I've learned to say that with a straight face) as the cassette/Walkman combo features in them as the hero's preferred method of playing his 'awesome' mix.

There was an item on the radio earlier in the year commenting on the renewed interest. As far as young 'uns are concerned, they view it as retro chic.
