Well I popped along to the AN demo day yesterday and it was quite good. There was a Jinro set up to a set of ANE Sp Es and a dac and cd transport. All in all about £45000 worth of equipment! It sounded excellent. There was a Cello player there also and it was difficult to tell the difference between him and the system. However....£45000!!!! My system(at around £1500) isn't as good but the AN system wasn't £43000 worth of better. There was also an OTO SE setup to a pair of AN X and at around £6000 that also highlighted the same fact. There simply wasn't a £39000 difference. Spoke to PQ as well - a few interesting comments but a bit too I'm so rich and clever for us to be forever pals. ibb.co/dqSyD8ibb.co/kwbEmTibb.co/fXnWY8ibb.co/gmgrY8

Law of diminishing returns. How far you go is down to depth of pockets and how much of a nut job you are Amazes me what some guys spend on spec or with just the demo of the kit they then buy

As Mike says, you often have to double the cost of your system for a reasonable improvement in SQ.
This is why I'm in favour of tweaking. You can often get similar improvements for a few hundred quid. Think supports, room treatment, mains treatment.
