Just saying Hi after an email exchange with Stan about power supplies for his Caiman SEG led me here following a link he supplied.
Like most who have chased this hobby for some time I have enough equipment to last several lifetimes and I can at least manage the worst effects of upgraditus by swapping equipment around before succumbing to buying more. Currently deciding what my summer amp should be as the Octave RE320 with KT150s adds an extra 4 degrees C to the room temperature.
Current system
Roksan Xerxes 20+ with Pug tonearm, Dynavector XX2 Graham Slee Elevator and Accession phono amp Cambridge Audio 851N streamer Melco N1A Naim NAT02 tuner/Leak Troughline with Whitely Valve decoder Meridian 602 CD transport Beresford Caiman SEG Octave HP700 Pre and RE320 Power amps Anthony Gallo Strada 2 with TR3 Sub Audiovalve Luminare Headphone Amp with Stax 507 and Beyerdynamic DT880
Plus more equipment hiding in various rooms than you can shake a stick at plus a few thousand CDs, a few thousand LPs and even more FLAC tracks.
Cheers
Andy

Hello Andy and welcome to TAS. How do you find the SEG so far? Having more equipment than you possibly need is a TAS entry requirement...

Hi Martin
There's an awful lot to like about the SEG however it has only been in the system for 24 hours so still early days. I have a Grace Petrie CD - Live at St. Pancras Old Church where Grace exchanges some banter on track 2 with the audience and at last I can hear what the guy is saying in response to her comments about canned laughter. I've tried different speakers/CD players to hear what was said however the SEG has made it intelligible!

Hello and welcome Andy.
As a die-hard vinylist I would love to see a pic of your Xerxes 20 - it's such a handsome deck. I'm intrigued by the Pug - have just had to google it!
What are your musical tastes?

Hi Jules
A friend has described my musical tastes as eclectic, Late Junction is mandatory listening and now much easier to listen to without falling asleep as it's series linked on my V6 box. It's either Radio 3 or Radio Paradise on during the day. I buy flac albums on Bandcamp and you can probably find my profile there. Last 4 CDs bought were David Byrne - American Utopia, The Quiet Hollers - Quiet Hollers and Show of Hands - Where We're Bound and finally Beniamino Gigli - Operatic Arias. I've spent much more on music than the equipment and that's saying something.

Radio Paradise on during the day Nice. I love Radio Paradise, play it every day on the commute home (Bluetooth from phone to car).

How do you find the Cambridge Audio streamer, Andy? They’ve got a good reputation.

Hi Paul
The 851N sounds great, I chose it in preference to a Linn Majik DS, however, I discovered that it does have a known issue in that it will occasionally lose the sound in one channel and needs to be switched off and on again to reset. Plus it' had to go back twice as it eventually lost one channel permanently and the first time it was replaced with a new model. The new model suffered the same fault a few months later and this time they would only replace the internal board, free of charge. Since then it has been fine although I would think twice about buying another. I also have a CA Stream Magic 6 in my bedroom system and that has never had any problem.
Cheers

Yes classical figures in my collection, one of my favourite symphonies is Carl Nielsen No4, Copland is another favourite composer. For some reason I'm unmoved by most Mozart and Wagner. I find Mahler, Tchaikovsky and of course Beethoven more engaging. Recently Tallis, Monteverdi and Tomas Luis de Victoria. I find the Hyperion Records website useful for exploring and discovering composers new to me.

Saying that, somebody recommended a Decca Phase 4 recording (PFS4187) to me recently that is quite stunning. It has orchestral music from Tannhauser and much to my shock I enjoyed it from start to finish. I'm also a massive fan of Renaissance choral music. Have you discovered Gesualdo yet?

Whilst I've read about Gesualdo I've not actually listed to any of his music, you've prompted me to go to Hyperion and listen to some excerpts, very interesting, so I've now downloaded Tenebrae Responsories for Holy Saturday and that's led to also buying The Tallis Scholars live in Oxford (1996). It may turn out to be a bit expensive being a member here! I'll keep an eye out for the Decca recording you mentioned. Thanks

Nothing else sounds like Gesualdo, such is the complexity and ingenuity of his writing. Do check out his Madrigals, they are especially wonderful. I was lucky enough to hear the Tallis Scholars performing Gesualdo at the Proms back in 2013.
