An interesting article, Jules. I'm quite surprised that Clara Schumann didn't get a mention, or Fanny Mendelssohn, and bringing things up to date, Anne Dudley. My personal favourite is Hildegard von Bingen, whose work I'm sure you've got in your collection too.

I guess it's because the Schumann and Mendelssohn ladies are not 'forgotten' in the same way as the others. Of course I have the Ms von Bingen box sets ...

I guess it's because the Schumann and Mendelssohn ladies are not 'forgotten' in the same way as the others. Which is why a mention of them would have made a more balanced article. Just my opinion of course. That's the way I would have written it.

11,000 Virgins, and The Origin Of Fire, both by Anonymous 4, are two excellent albums of HvB's work that come to mind.
