Do you mean the Spotify music link above? How can that take you to anywhere else? Do you mean another piece of music?

It's English, Jim. But not as we know it...

I've just played the Levine and it's a great orchestral recording and performance, I really like the way he plays it straight and the string and horn sections are excellent with a lovely bloom. There is a touch of 'digital silence' when all is quiet (the acoustic space being much more audible in my recordings) but the overall sound is surprisingly good for DG.
I find the organ reasonably well defined but it's nothing compared with that San Francisco monster. Playing the de Waart 2nd movement directly after put the smile back on my face. I guess I'm suckered in by one of the best recordings of one of the most potent organs in the world!

Ok that settles it, I will buy de Waart.

One of my favourite recordings is with Geoffrey Simon conducting. I've just clocked that I have this on SACD, Jerry. Very nice it sounds, too. Sadly the Westminster Cathedral organ is a bit lacking in the lower pedal department but otherwise this is a very nice performance.

5 stars for the work but one star for the recording in the first post ... LOL.

Heh, I was trying to find an alternative to the Batiz, should have gone for the de Waart but was aware that not everyone has seismic capabilities!

MikeMusic please try again as I'd like to know whether this would be a potential first classical concert gig for you. On your laptop with Spotify controlling the Pi, click on the Spotify link in this post, wait for the Open Spotify button to appear and click it. That will take you to the album in Spotify. Now click the 2nd movement, turn the volume up and report back. This is the slow movement. The next time you hear the organ is in the massive entry to the 4th movement.

I've had a look and there are some stellar looking scheduled performances of the Organ Concerto, but sadly none of them are in this country! I wonder where in the UK would be the best place to hold a performance - I believe that Liverpool Cathedral holds the title of 'biggest instrument in the UK' but not sure about the acoustics there ...

In London it's almost definitely the Albert Hall - all the other venues have weedy organs.

Yes we need turbo-charged. I wonder about outside of London though ...

Played the right piece. Reminded by the boss she doesn't like organ music
Found it ok.

Will have to think some more...

Even a hard audience for myself.
Finding a lot of albums I own are not up to par recently. On the brighter side I find others are wonderful

I have just played and enjoyed it very much indeed. The allegro was superb. 4 out of 5. I still don't call myself a fan of organ music though.
